The sound is actually the best part of the earphone, and it’s perfectly competent. However, it doesn’t do anything better than a host of earphones for similar or less money than I can rattle out… hell instead of talking about this one, let’s look at its deficiencies against the competition. You’re probably not interested in them by this point (if you have any sense), so let’s have a bit of fun. Just to clarify the Airship doesn’t sound bad but…
Seekreal Airship Vs.
Tin Hif P1 Plus
Assuming you have the power to drive the P1, this is a vicious murder. The P1 does everything other than bass quantity better. When it comes to detail retrieval, the two are worlds apart, and the P1 resolves far better. The sound staging and 3D presentation of the P1 are also significant factors for why the P1 is just better.
Let’s also not mention MMCX connectors, better cable, more comfortable, and cheaper are all plus points for Tin Hifi, who are kings at this price.
LZ A2 Pro
The LZ is significantly cheaper but significantly nicer, in my opinion. The A2 pro is a hybrid earphone with two balanced armatures and one dynamic driver. I found the tonality similar, but the A2 resolved more detail. Similar output is detected from the bass, but trebles are better managed on the A2.
The resin build and faceplate styling are nicer on the A2, and the cable is also significantly nice.
7Hz Timeless
Ok, the Timeless may cost a few bucks more, but in terms of how many dollars better, it is huge. The 7Hz is one of the most popular earphones of the last few years. They resolve big detail and create the 3D soundstage I mention on the P1 but do so with more bass impact.
The downside is that the circular faceplate design on the Timeless is truly awful, so im actually going to give the advantage to Seekreal in that category.
Conclusion
As you can see, im not into these earphones at all. It feels to me that it should be sold for far less money. Putting it in a funky box and including a decent carry case is not enough to save anyone in this viciously competitive market space.
Im sure the usual suspects will shill this, but Im not for it; while they don’t sound bad or really offend as profoundly as I may make it seem with my words above, my issue is that you can do better. There are better-looking, better-sounding, and better-value earphones out there.
Verdict: Not Recommended
